This image has become increasingly powerful as Italy and the rest of the world continue to fight the virus that has taken so many lives and altered the way we see the world. We are all currently frozen in this moment of silence and reflection, but there is a light at the end of all of this darkness and together we will all get through this. The image piers between the facades of the Basilica di Santa Maria in Florence, Italy, capturing a moment of silence but it also looks forward and is illuminated by the light that is beginning to reenter our world.
