"It hasn't always been an empty space." by Gianbruno Boel, ,
This shot shows the difference between the time of nature and the time of artifice and how they can work differently producing new outcomes: sometimes these outcomes are completely new, sometimes they are not so different from the original, sometimes they are very different but with the same hierarchy between the elements (nature – built-up space).
Sverre Fehn has designed the pavilion at the Giardini della Biennale in Venice starting from the presence of trees on the plot.
This prerogative at the origin of the project is a form of respect of the designer for nature.
However, one of these trees is no longer there and leaves the space that was dedicated to it empty, as if to point out that the time of nature prevails over the time of artifice.
Nature, through this apparently unexplained lack, maintains a privileged position on the building as Sverre Fehn originally designed it.
It hasn't always been an empty space.
