"Periptero" by Thanasis Ikonomou, ,

Taken two days after the COVID-19 lock-down (March 15th 2020) in Athens, Greece, this scene illustrates the struggles of trying to keep everyone inside. Although all historic sites, stores and cafes are closed, this non-discrete Periptero (Kiosk) transforms into the most important destination of Monastiraki within a span of two days. The icons and symbols of the past have faded into the distance while the Periptero becomes the New Acropolis.
