"Corridors of Insomnia" by Paul Brouns, ,
Late at night. A residential building in the outskirts of The Hague (NL). The dark outside wall is opened by scattered windows of different sizes. Through these densely organised squares you can see illuminated corridors that give access to the different apartments behind. At first glance the colourful playfulness of the intersecting windows and doors is appealing to one’s eyes. It may remind of a stamp collection or an abstract collage. The lighting, the limited depth of the scene and the passing silhouettes add a feeling of suspense to the image. What are those people up to? Do they have trouble sleeping and decided to go for a walk? Perhaps the staging itself is what keeps them awake.
