BLOX /DAC
New meets old, living spaces meet exhibition venues, offiices cafés and playgrounds with urban routes still flowing directly through the building – everything with a strong focus on sustainability – such is the philosophy behind the BLOX / DAC building, built by Realdania and designed by OMA (2006-2017). In 2019 Lille Langebro, a new bicycle and pedestrian bridge designed by Buro Happold Engineering and the architects WilkinsonEyre and Urban Agency connected the BLOX complex directly to the island Amager, situated just outside the center of Copenhagen. The bridge not only completed the dynamic philosophy behind BLOX / DAC but also created a wonderful and unexpected new venue of aesthetic experience of the city and harbour area.
