"Sturm Pavillion addition to the Denver Art Museum" by ALAN G. GASS, ,
The most prominent feature of this imsge is a night view of the Sturm Pavillion addition to the renovation of the Gio Ponti- James Sudler- designed Martin Building of the Denver (CO) Art Museum (background). The new design is the work of Machado and Silvetti of Cambridge, MA, with Fentress Architects of Denver. The project involved the gut-renovation of the Martin Building, Gio Ponti’s only building in the United States, and complete repurposing and design of all of its galleries. The design sensitively adds an elliptical-shaped new main entrance to the museum on the ground floor and a grand ballroom on the second floor that harks back to Ponti’s never built elliptical- shaped auditorium.
