"Friedrichstad Palast" by Emma-Jane Hetherington, ,
This was snapped when I was out and about exploring Berlin, it was Spring but still fairly chilly in the shade. I remember the quality of the light and the feeling as I walked from the mellow sunshine into the cold shade. I love the juxtaposition of the people crossing the road, walking and on bikes, going about their daily business in front of such an elegant building. They pay it no attention and get on with their busy lives. It reminds me of what Ema Peter said in her Masterclass of Architecture talk that people are so caught up in the distractions of life they forget to look up. I am always telling my kids to take a moment and look up. The light is super dramatic with the dark shadow against the warmth of the building and the blue, blue sky.
