"Catedral Metropolitana" by RJ Guillermo, ,
There is beauty in Old and there is something about ancient buildings that were built to last forever. This photo was taken at the Zócalo (or Plaza de la Constitución) in Mexico City with a view towards the Catedral Metropolitana. As I approached the catedral, I can't help but feel its historic implications. It has survived for centuries and was built with slave hands. The Zócalo is a stage for artistic and cultural events, and it was important to capture people in the photograph because they activate the plaza and bring new life and color to the plaza. The structure is Classical and represents a mixture of Renaissance, Baroque, and Neoclassical styles. It is an overwhelming piece of architecture - Old and New come together seamlessly in this gathering place to celebrate a monumental structure that has stood the test of time.
